Run and Punch at Subterranean | April 29, 2023
I recently attended a ska show at Subterranean featuring Run and Punch, Bumsy and the Moochers, Malafacha & Calico Plaid. The show took place on a Saturday night and the venue was packed with excited fans ready to celebrate the release of Run and Punch’s awaited EP, “Here’s To You and Me.”
The atmosphere of the show was lively and energetic. The crowd was engaged and dancing from the first note of the opening act. The energy in the room was contagious and it was easy to get swept up in the excitement. Even I was running around dancing with my camera in my hand.
All four acts put on amazing performances. The musicians were tight and the vocals were spot on. The horn sections were especially impressive and added a lot of depth to the sound. The bands were engaging to watch and had great stage presence.
Run and Punch played a long set of classic R&P songs with a middle set of their new EP which the crowd never ceased skanking in BOTH pits to. To end the night, the crowd cheered for an encore from Run and Punch-- they were so great to play us one last song -- “Valerie,” a classic Amy Winehouse cover from their repertoire.
Overall, I had an amazing time at the show. The bands were fantastic and the energy in the room was electric.
